Advocacy Efforts

Love Heals vehemently defends young people’s right to accurate, nonjudgmental and culturally relevant HIV/AIDS information through its advocacy and communications efforts. By participating in press interviews, panel discussions and community forums—in addition to maintaining this educational website—Love Heals disseminates a wealth of information for young people and their parents/guardians, educators and community leaders. We believe that young people have the power to effect change, and we support them in this work.

Love Heals is a founding member of the Sex Education Alliance of NYC (SEANYC), which works to ensure that all public school students receive age-appropriate HIV/AIDS education. Love Heals was also a founding steering committee member of the Young Women of Color HIV/AIDS Coalition, a coalition for and of young women of color that fosters their development of the organizing and advocacy skills necessary to help change the climate in which decisions about them are being made.

We need to acknowledge that young people are the future by recognizing and supporting their ability to change the world today.
